Why are electronic claims faster?

When you send electronic claims to ECP they are sent through a set of edits, which check the claim to make sure the pertinent information is not missing or incomplete.  You will receive an error repot within 2 hours of sending claims the will inform you if your claims passed our edits and were sent to the payer or if they rejected our edits.  If they rejected our edits it will tell you which claim rejected and why.  Most payers will pay electronic claims within 15 days, although there is no set rule.
